East Surrey Volunteer Co-Ordinator

Voluntary Action Reigate and Banstead hold networking forums for volunteer coordinators from across East Surrey.

Our Volunteer Co-Ordinators Forum brings together people who manage volunteers across East Surrey. A great way to stay up to date with and learn about best practice around volunteer management, to benefit from peer support, and to network with other volunteer coordinators. Our forum is open to anyone who has direct responsibility for managing or coordinating volunteers, regardless of the size of your organisation and whether your role is paid or unpaid.

On each forum, members choose the theme for the next forum. In the past we have covered themes such as Wellbeing for Staff and Volunteers, Policies and Procedures, Volunteer Retainment, Volunteer Induction etc.

Below you can find information regarding our upcoming events and information on previous East Surrey Volunteer Coordinator Forums.

June 2024

In June, Voluntary Action Reigate and Banstead (VARB) led a discussion on the topic ‘Wellbeing for Staff and Volunteers’. The forum focussed on the questions:

“How do you support your volunteers wellbeing?”

“How does your organisation support your wellbeing?”

Volunteer coordinators were given a chance to share their own practices and how their organisation supports them.

VARB has created a Wellbeing Guide to provide information and resources to help support your mental health, physical health, and work-life balance. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with these resources and use them whenever needed.

February 2024

In February, the forum had a speaker from ESDAS (East Surrey Domestic Abuse Services) who spoke on Volunteer Training. Volunteer Coordinators then reflected on their own practices with the thought that they may be ‘overloading’ their volunteers with too much information such as reading policies and training. Volunteer Coordinators then had an opportunity to provide advice to each other and network.
