The Carrington Place development on the Watercolour Estate in Redhill is progressing at pace. Within it, our new Watercolour Community Space will be housed. We are now actively looking for a Treasurer to join our existing core group of residents and supporters actively involved.

Watercolour Estate has existed for 14 years and comprises of over 600 flats and houses. Watercolour also benefits from a children's nursery, a vet, a pharmacy, a doctors surgery and a Tesco Express. The nature reserve is also close by offering spectacular walks and views, as well as an array of wildlife. We will work together to ensure that the long-awaited Community Space can become a vibrant hub of the development, offering the ability to bring residents together.

As a Trustee, you will have a limited legal responsibility, and together with all Trustees, will be responsible for ensuring that all statutory obligations are met, the community space is well run and solvent, and delivers its charitable outcomes.

Trustee meetings will usually be held monthly for a maximum of 90 minutes. As the charity is in its infancy, the core group is usually investing a further two / three hours on a monthly basis to meet online / face to face to decide on setup, logistics, and community engagement initiatives, and in carrying out resulting ad-hoc actions. As integral part of this group, you will be involved in the conversations and decisions.

Initial Term: An initial period of 3 years 

Limit of Financial Liability: £10

What skills do I need?

We are looking for candidates from a variety of professional backgrounds, with a heart for the community and willingness to proactively get involved by lending their expertise and enthusiasm in directing its affairs. 

As a Treasurer you will responsible for keeping scrupulous and transparent record of income & expenditure throughout the financial year, for liaising with the accountant at the end of it for them to generate the final accounts, and for contributing to the Board's decisions from a financial perspective.

An accounting background is not required, but prior experience in financial record keeping is a clear advantage towards achieving good oversight and autonomy in your role. A good degree of working knowledge with Microsoft Excel would also greatly help in producing precise and transparent records.

The position does not require the candidate to be available on specific days of the week. Trustee meetings will usually be held monthly, with usually a further two / three hours work for ad-hoc meetings and resulting actions.
