As part of the Aspire project supporting ex-offenders, VARB is running a one day Criminal Records Disclosure Workshop. This training is aimed at front line practitioners and advisers who help people into employment, education and/or training, to increase their confidence to support people with criminal records.
On this one-day workshop you will:
- understand how to apply the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA), the ROA Exceptions Order and advise your clients on when their convictions may become spent and/or eligible for filtering
- learn about the impact of criminal records on education and employment options
- understand exactly what your clients need to disclose and in which circumstances
- improve your confidence in helping them to prepare for positive disclosure.
This workshop is being delivered by NACRO, a national social justice charity who have helped thousands of people with significant offending histories to overcome the risk-averse attitudes of employers and training providers, through positive disclosure.
The normal price of this training is £99. However, thanks to funding from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey, VARB is running this workshop at just £40 per place (£35 for VARB members). Places are limited to 20.
