In Funding News by Caroline Foxton

Housing Minister Alok Sharma announced at the first national Community-Led Housing Conference that the Government will launch a new fund ‘worth £60 million in the first year alone’ which will provide both capital and revenue funding, with flexibility to meet demand.

Community groups, registered providers and other appropriate organisations will be able to apply for funding from January 2018 with the first allocations of funding being awarded around the beginning of April 2018.

Further information about the programme will be provided in the prospectus which is expected to be available shortly.

According to the Housing Minister, “a significant element of the funding will also go towards developing an advisory network that supports community groups to bring forward projects.” He also said that he will be setting up an advisory group to steer the Department of Communities and Local Government on the delivery of the funding programme.

The full transcript of the Housing Minister’s speech can be found on GOV.UK website.

Full details of the funding programme will be provided as soon as they become available.
