Trustee and Board Member – Financial Role – ESRA

In Professional/Technical, Volunteer Opportunities by Lisa Irwin

ESRA (The Employment Support Retraining Agency) has been based in Redhill and operating actively as mental health support charity for almost 40 years.

By joining ESRA as a Trustee at this exciting time you will help to move the organisation onto the next stage in their development, deciding their future path and partnership arrangements while they continue to offer outstanding guidance to individuals with mental health issues in Redhill and across East Surrey and supporting them on their journey back to into work and within work.

Their Trustee board has responsibility for ensuring that ESRA

  • complies with its governing documents, charity law and other statutory legislation
  • is financially stable and uses its resources for its charitable purpose
  • has firm strategic direction

Trustees will need to attend quarterly meetings of the Board and also to get involved in other ways such as supporting research and fact-finding, developing strategy or working with staff and volunteers on projects related to the Trustee’s specialism.

They are particularly keen to hear from local people with specialised knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial
  • Charity Legal/Governance
  • Research and fact-finding

They would also very much welcome applications from those who have worked in or been beneficiaries of mental health services or who have worked in or with mental health or employability support providers.
