In Practical, Volunteer Opportunities by Lisa Irwin

Stripey Stork collect donations of baby equipment, clothes, toys and other baby essentials and check that they meet current UK safety standards. They pride themselves on passing on items in great condition, and want the families who receive items from them to feel they are receiving a gift and not a handout.  They are looking for volunteers to help with:  Sorting incoming donations, sorting and making up bags of clothing by age and gender.  Folding baby clothes, making up weaning packs (bottles, teats etc.). Checking stair gates, cots, buggies, high chairs etc. meet current UK safety standards by following their checklist.  Timings are flexible to suit volunteers.  Stripey Stork are open Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s from 9.30am – 12pm.  They are also looking for a Handyperson to volunteer on a regular basis (fortnightly/once a month) to help assemble furniture and check items are safe, for example if a piece of furniture has a screw missing or a pram tyre has a valve missing this would need ordering and replacing.
