The Support Group Coordinator takes care of all aspects of the Support Group, individually or part of a group of volunteers. The volunteer will ensure that the group follows the aims and objectives of Parkinson’s UK. Local groups are run by volunteers who usually have experience of Parkinson’s and are supported by professional staff. The local group network offers friendship and support to everyone living with Parkinson’s, their families and carers across the UK. They are looking for somebody to support their group based in Reigate. The role includes; Acting as a contact for local and UK office staff. Arranging speakers for group meetings, organising fundraising activities, room bookings and refreshments, entertainment, outings and meals out. And to agree with local Volunteer Coordinator an annual budget forecast. Group meetings are held on on the 3rd Thursday of the month (alternative months). The volunteer would also be asked to attend approx. 4 committee meetings a year. An ideal role for someone with strong leadership and organisational skills. Good communication skills and report writing skills are essential and being comfortable in a public speaking role would be beneficial.
