When someone is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness such as cancer or Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a Brigitte Trust volunteer provides emotional and practical help to client and carer. They provide full training and ongoing support and ask for a commitment of three hours each week plus monthly supervision. Their next free training course is TBC. After training, volunteers are supported as they visit their first families, offering respite for carers shopping, transport and, importantly, the opportunity to share some of the many feelings a serious diagnosis brings. Volunteers also offer bereavement support and are fully supported in peer group supervision led by a professional trainer.
